Welcome to the Sussex Eating Out Guide
Sussex, county of the South Downs, is famous the
world over for its rolling hills and green downland. Populated
since the later Iron Age, it has 80 miles of coastline; gardens,
history and heritage; castles, abbeys, priories, stately homes
and historic houses. There are family amusement parks and
wildlife centres; the nostalgic, the curious and the simply
fun, including museums of bygones, steam railways and caves.
Sussex boasts numerous theatres and arts festivals, golf courses,
horse racing, many ancient churches and buildings plus large
Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty over the South Downs and
Ashdown Forest, (including the soon-to-be-designated South
Downs National Park) - and don't forget the Sussex Pub!
But this site concentrates on just one aspect of Sussex -
it's wonderful food. Both West and East Sussex are packed
with places to eat, from cafes and bistros, to restaurants,
hotels, and pubs. Brighton
is a bustling cosmopolitan city with food from wildly varying
cultures available. Chichester is a cathedral town with a
number of fine dining establishments. And dotted everywhere
in between is the quintessential english country pub, both
fake modern and authentic traditional.
With its mix of traditional and modern, there is plenty for
both the tourist
and resident
to eat! Whether its sampling one of the many world cuisines,
dropping into a local pub,
going out for some fine dining,
taking in a show
or cabaret
while you eat, Sussex has it all and the Sussex Eating Out
Guide will help you find it.
But, if you find you do want more, then Sussex is a just
a short
hop away from many other attractions and the
capital city itself, London.
